Japanese Lacquerware is called "Shikki" and has been an art of Japanese tableware for centuries.
We have been very fortunate to be able to present Shikki products from a leading company in Kyoto, who are the leaders in the application of Urushi (a traditional Japanese natural lacquer)
These products are handmade by skilled craftsmen and they take many steps and a very long time to create. For example: the products must be shaped from solid wood, coated with many many layers of lacquer (with each coat requiring time to dry), before the final designa nd decorations can be added.
These items make wonderful wedding gifts, decorations for your home or office, or to use for those very special events. We hope you enjoy this selection! All items in this section are handmade in Kyoto, Japan.
