Kokeshi Dolls are wooden dolls that have their origin in the North-East of Japan. They are made of young, white wood called 'Mizuki'.
In the Edo Period (1603-1867) they were served as souvenirs for tourists visiting the hot springs. From Taisho (1912-1926), however, they were more and more considered as an independent art form.

We are pleased to be able to offer this item from the Kyoohoo Company which specializes in unique Japanese treasures directly from Japan.  This item is NOT available at any of our retail stores, and only available from our web site.

Please understand that these Kokeshi Dolls are each handmade, so they may not look exactly like the photo.  Truly a one-of-a-kind true Japanese gift.
